Local Restaurants Get Scored
Reporter Review

There are many great places to eat in the Joshua/Burleson area. However, sometimes it can be difficult to choose. Maybe time is of the essence. Maybe money is low. Sometimes food reviews don’t go in depth and explain why they rated it what they rated it. Here is an in-depth review of the three most popular restaurants in the area.

Chick-fil-a, a fast food restaurant most commonly known for their original chicken sandwich, has locations in Cleburne and Burleson. This specific review is for the building located on Wilshire Boulevard, across from Target. I ordered the chicken sandwich meal, a mac and cheese, and a brownie. I would rate all of this an average of 7 out of 10. My first issue was that the lines, in both the drive through and inside, were really long. It’s a very popular place, but if you’re in a time crunch it probably is not the best place to go. My second issue was that the food was a little bit more expensive than other places. However, it tasted really good and was very filling. Overall, the food tasted great and the staff was nice.

Olive Garden, a popular Italian restaurant, was an unexpected choice, but surprisingly a lot of people said that was their favorite. I would rate this another 7 out of 10. The biggest issue is that it’s a little farther away than the other two. While Chick-fil-a is no more than a 10 minute drive from the surrounding area, Olive garden is around 15 to 20 minutes away. The biggest factor is traffic because the main road to get there is a highway. Once again, the staff was nice and the food was good. Considering the size of the restaurant, the food was delivered fairly quickly. My personal favorite part of the experience was the little tablet where you can play games. Once again, the food was very overpriced, in my opinion. I ordered a cheese ravioli with marinara sauce. This would be a great place to go if you want something fancy and pricey, but not quite as expensive as other places.

The final place I will be reviewing is La Mesa. This is a newer Mexican restaurant in Joshua, located on Main St. The food was good, but the service was amazing. Inside was clean and neat, and nothing was overpriced. The food was very filling, but so much as to where you feel stuffed after just a few bites. Probably the best part about my visit to La Mesa would be the queso dip. It was the perfect combination of spicy and cheesy without being overpowering. The inside was more like that of a BBQ restaurant, rather than a fancy place for a first date. Its friendly atmosphere, great food, amazing staff and fun interior earned this place a 9 out of 10. However, these are only a few of the great places to eat in the Johnson County area.
