Money has come to be a defining feature of life. To get food, water, and shelter, it comes at a price. For some, it may not be so easy while others have found ways to get where they are today. However, if someone obtained one million dollars out of nowhere, their life would probably change. They would have to plan what to do with the money and be prepared for how it potentially change their life.
These ideas have infiltrated the minds of many people wondering what one would do. Maybe they believe they should keep it all to themselves, help out, or go around buying whatever was their desire. No matter the decision, it is only themselves who are able to decide what path they will take.
“If I obtained one million dollars right now I would definitely be shocked,” junior Hiya Patel said. “Those one million dollars would go to helping my immediate family in paying bills and towards my college funds. College can be expensive and that one million dollars would help me [pay] my tuition. I could also donate some of that money to people in need. There are many people around the world who are without a roof, food, or clothes and if they were to earn one million dollars I bet they would feel very thankful.”
However, the better the path someone takes with a decision similar to this one the more long-term changes that benefit them may occur. These benefits may be as simple as gaining more trust with others, to being gifted unique items at times. One example, shared by junior Ethan Henry, would be giving back to the community in the form of church.
“If I obtained one million dollars right now, I would first split it and give one half to my church,” Henry said. “In the second half, I would pay off my house and my parents’ cars and, with whatever is left, I would invest.”
This decision may be complicated or it may not be; this all depends on the approach to the situation and the execution of said situation. With the approach, one major aspect of coming to a conclusion would be the person’s passion for what they are using it.
“One million dollars can change my life at this current moment by paying for all the things that I need for my house,” junior Diego Vazquez said. “Also, it would allow for the retirement of my parents at this moment. Finally, it could change my life right now by giving back to others.”
In the end, whatever one does should make them happy and allow them to enjoy what they have accomplished. This stays true no matter the lives one changes with their actions. Although, changing someone else’s life with an opportunity like this may be incredibly beneficial.
“I think that one million dollars could change someone else’s life by allowing them to pursue their dreams and allow them to invest in their future,” junior Preston Parker said.
