Joshua High School has been around for ages, and countless students come and go every year. Everybody’s experience is so diverse, and many people have different regrets. When asked about what they missed in their high school experience, 15 alumni had this to say.
Zulema Blanco (2020)
“I wish I had signed up for more extracurricular activities.”
Damien Leon (2022)
“I wished I had gotten more involved in extracurriculars. I realize now how much I missed out by not joining clubs or sports teams. These things aren’t just about adding to your resume; these are chances to connect with people, learn new skills, and make some amazing memories.”
Sommer Stetson (2023)
“I [wish] I had prepared more for college, more specifically scholarships. I’m grateful that I was able to get a full ride off of multiple scholarships but I felt like I was not prepared enough throughout high school.”
Caroline Moffit (2023)
“I wish I had been able to end high school sooner.”
Kifaya Ghanim (2024)
“I wish I had saved some more money and repaired my broken relationships with people.”
Taylor DeLuna (2024)
“I wish I had taken school more seriously so my GPA wouldn’t get messed up; I also [wish] I had taken honor classes or college classes.”
Layla Icet (2024)
“I wish I would have saved more money and applied for scholarships way earlier than I did.”
Brooklyn Fields (2024)
“I wish I had participated more in class instead of minding my own business and not sharing my thoughts on the subject. I should have been engaging more with class discussions/activities because doing so really helps you feel comfortable with discussing your opinions.”
Quinn Lewis (2024)
“I wish I had grown a better beard.”
Kaelia Dickinson (2024)
“Something that I wish I had done before high school ended is getting to know the younger classes better. It was nice to have my younger sister, Delaney, but getting to know more students would have been cool to help give advice and make them feel more comfortable.”
Zach Ferguson (2024)
“I wish I would have been more social with people; I was always on my phone in school.”
Reese Reynolds (2024)
“I wish I hadn’t listened to all the criticism I got from my friend about not going to university after I got out of high school. I also [wish] that I had realized that the people who are your friends in high school will probably not be your friends after you graduate.”
Kennedi Boren (2024)
“I wish I had brought some more money for food truck day.”
James Jackson (2024)
“I wish I had paid a lot more attention in math class.”
Macie Valles (2024)
“I wish I had gone to more football games, dressed up, and had more fun with friends because you will never experience Friday Night Lights again. Never forget who you are, once an owl, always an owl.”
Regardless of age, graduation year, or gender, everyone’s high school experience is unique and personal to them. However, all Joshua alumni have at least one thing they wish they had done differently. This goes to show that each person should savor the experience and privilege of being able to attend our incredible school.
