There’s a person in everyone’s life who makes them smile, feel at ease, and be genuinely happy, If people each had the ability to recognize and award them for that, they would.

Luckily, many students at JHS can now feel the relief of doing so.

On Feb. 27 Kerri Cisneros, English Teacher and Yearbook adviser, was surprised in her classroom and awarded the Dude, Be Nice award by Student Council members for being known as one who represents positive values around school.

“[Mr.] Ferguson had told me that someone hit my Jeep and that I [needed to go out in the parking lot] with him,” Cisneros said. “I was actually pretty upset and then when we got out there he said ‘Well, looks like there’s nothing wrong.’ Little did I know he was a part of the prank. When I came back and saw all of those kids in my room, I was so surprised.”

But no one else was. Cisneros is well known around the school for being a positive and kind figure.  She is absolutely deserving of her award.

“I think kindness is so important to give and receive,” Cisneros said. “It makes the world a better place. The kids at JHS are great about showing kindness and I am extremely blessed to work in an environment where students and teachers care about each other as people. A kind word from the heart or even a small smile can make a difference in someone’s day.”

Cisneros is as thankful for her award as we are for her and her daily kindness.

“Thank you so much to everyone who was a part of presenting me with this sweet honor during Dude, Be Nice week,” Cisneros said. “I love you all so much and I’m thankful for the kids at JHS who are willing to make a difference in this school and the world.”
